What our Interview Boost session covers
STAR Method
We build your behavioural answers using the STAR framework: Situation, Task, Action, Result. You leave with at least two examples structured so they land with impact.
UK Interview Question Types
Competency-based, values-based, situational, and strength-based questions are all in scope. We cover the formats UK employers use so nothing catches you off guard.
Body Language and Delivery
What you say matters less than how you say it. We cover pace, eye contact (in-person and on video), posture, and the non-verbal signals that signal confidence to an interviewer.
Difficult Questions
Gaps in employment, redundancy, leaving quickly, failure questions. We work through the ones you are dreading and give you a clean, honest answer that does not raise flags.
Questions to Ask the Interviewer
Ending well matters. We give you four or five sharp, role-relevant questions that signal genuine interest and seniority, not the ones every other candidate asks.
Post-Interview Follow-Up
What to do in the 24 hours after the interview: the follow-up message, how to handle feedback requests, and what to keep doing if you reach the next round.
Common NHS interview questions
NHS interviews use structured competency and values-based formats, with specific question types the panel is required to ask. These are the categories that appear most consistently across bands and specialisms.
"Tell me about a time you demonstrated compassion in a difficult situation."
NHS Constitution values questions appear in almost every NHS interview. The panel is looking for a specific, evidenced example, not a general statement about your character.
"Describe a time you had to manage conflicting priorities under pressure."
This is a standard NHS Band 5 to 7 competency question. Structure your answer using STAR and name the outcome explicitly, including what was protected and what was deprioritised.
"Give an example of a time you led a team through a significant change."
At Band 7 and above, NHS panels expect leadership evidence aligned to the NHS Leadership Competency Framework. Your answer should show how you brought others with you, not just what you decided.
"Tell me about a time you communicated complex information to someone who found it difficult to understand."
This criterion appears across bands from 3 upwards. The panel wants to see that you adapted your approach to the specific person, not that you have good communication skills generally.
"Describe a time you raised a concern about patient safety."
NHS interviews at clinical and non-clinical levels often include a patient safety or governance question. Your answer needs to show you followed the correct escalation process and state what the outcome was.
"Tell me about a time you supported a colleague who was struggling."
NHS values interviews frequently include a teamwork or colleague support question. The panel is assessing whether you show the NHS Constitution value of working together for patients, not just personal performance.
"Give an example of a time you identified a problem and made an improvement."
Quality improvement is a standing NHS priority. At any band, having one example of a change you initiated or contributed to, with a named outcome, will strengthen your answer to this question type.
"Why are you leaving your current role?"
NHS interview panels are trained to probe motivation and values alignment. Answer honestly and briefly, then pivot to what you are moving towards. Do not criticise your current employer or team.
